My Mission, Vision, And Values

What I am all about

Mission, Vision, and Values: Experience

Mission

For much of its history, the museum field has ignored outside voices when creating their collections and exhibits. I am dedicated to using audience research to allow for people outside of the field to have a voice in the preservation and use of their cultural heritage. It is by engaging and interpreting the voice of the community that I will help move the museum field into the future.

Vision

I will be a leader in the field of audience research and I will use my values to put forward a voice for the community of any museum that calls on my talents. I will use my time and effort to give the voice of the visitor more impact in any museum that I work with.

Values

Data Driven- Representing a community that you are not part of demands more than a gut feeling. I believe that collecting well thought out data that is analyzed with a critical eye is the best way to put forward diverse points of view from the community.

Respect- I believe in respecting all people, no matter their race, religion, or persuasion. Every person is a part of the community, and deserves the utmost respect I can give. And it is only through that respect that people will be willing to put forward their opinions.

Being Observant- I believe in always being aware of what is going on around me. It is important to pay attention to all of the details in order to understand what people are thinking.

Collaboration- I believe in working together as part of a team whenever possible. No museum, no matter how small, can ride on the back of just one person.

Accessibility- As someone on the autism spectrum, I believe in providing an environment that is accessible to everyone. I do not believe in the idea of “normal” being normal. It is important to provide ways for everyone to put forward their contributions and feel comfortable.
